As a Clinician II in the pediatric oncology unit at Inova Fairfax Hospital for Children, Cindy Briggs is a motivated young expert who has garnered the knowledge and skills to care for children with cancer. Examples of her contribution include developing order sets, which facilitate chemotherapy initiation, as well as creating many information materials for parents and children alike.

A trailblazer, Cindy also volunteered to serve as a practice leader in an evidence-based practice project. She is currently guiding her colleagues in improving the practice of pain management through an evidence-based approach. Working with a team, Cindy identified standardized assessment models and modified documentation requirements and specific knowledge deficits, which will improve the ability of staff to manage childrenŐs pain experiences.
